WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Even though the government shutdown is over, some federal workers are still waiting for their pay checks.
One local organization is giving them a helping hand.
Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard in Wilmington opened its doors Thursday to help feed federal workers and their families impacted by the shutdown.
Their food pantry is normally closed, but opened to let some families shop. The organization is now trying to get the word out to help as many families as possible.
“TSA, any government employee that has been in the shutdown and doesn’t get paid, so any of them that are in that state, we are willing take care of them,” Board Member Barney Richard said.
If you are a federal worker in need of assistance but did not get to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard Thursday, they said they will still be helping federal workers in the coming days.
