WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–UNCW womens basketball just keeps finding ways to win ballgames inside Trask Coliseum. This season the Seahawks are a perfect 10-0 at home after a 83-70 win over Northeastern on Sunday afternoon.
GiGi Smith continues to be one of the top offensive threats for the Seahawks. On Sunday against Northeastern she scored a game-high 20 points in the win. The two game winning streak for UNCW comes after they dropped both of their games on the previous road trip. The goal for the Seahawks now is to have that carry over to when they hit the road.
“When we have our next road trip, we understand that its never about beating our opponent. It is about being the best that we can be and playing the best we can that night. We just need to trying and carry it over,”said UNCW redshirt junior GiGi Smith.
Smith is spot on because as good as UNCW has been at home, they are just 3-7 on the road this year. The Seahawks next road trip will be February 15th when they travel to take on Towson and James Madison, two teams they have already beaten this year.
Before they head on the road the Seahawks want to end their home stand on a strong note. That begins this upcoming Friday night when they host Elon, that will be followed up on Sunday with William & Mary.
