WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — Hulu is getting in the revenge business and it’s found a partner in crime in the local film industry.
The popular streaming service announced Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour it had ordered a full season of “Reprisal,” a new revenge drama series starring Abigail Spencer (NBC’s “Timeless”) that filmed its pilot in Wilmington last fall. Following that announcement, Bill Vassar, executive vice president of EUE/Screen Gems Studios, confirmed the show will stay put in Wilmington to shoot the remainder of the season.
The series is described as a hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale (Spencer) who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gear heads.
The rest of the cast includes Rodrigo Santoro, Mena Massoud (who will play Aladdin in Disney’s live-action remake out May 26), Madison Davenport, Rhys Wakefield, David Dastmalchian, W. Earl Brown and Gilbert Owuor. The series is produced by Wareen Littlefield, who also produces Hulu’s acclaimed, Emmy-winning series “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
