CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WCTI) — Authorities say someone intentionally set a person’s body on fire in Craven County.
Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes said the call came in around midnight as a brush fire call.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they said they found a body along the side of Beamon Road, west of New Bern.
At this time, deputies said the body is so badly burned that it is unidentifiable. However, authorities did say the body is that of a male.
The body is being sent to Greenville for an autopsy.
Sheriff Hughes said they were able to determine someone set the body on fire.
