LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina sheriff’s office has accused a man of hitting a driver’s education teacher because his son was late for the class and wasn’t allowed in.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release 36-year-old Justin Kyle Ray of Lincolnton beat on the door of the classroom at West Lincoln High School last Saturday because the instructor wouldn’t allow the student to enter the class after 8 a.m., saying school policy prohibited it.

Investigators say Ray hit the instructor in the head several times, causing facial injuries and breaking his glasses.

The sheriff’s office filed multiple charges against Ray, including misdemeanor assault on a school employee and disorderly conduct at a school. He’s jailed on a $5,000 bond and it’s not known if he has an attorney.
