Objects thrown at cars, damages vehicles in Columbus County


COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — At least two windshields were broken and another car damaged when someone threw objects at cars driving along Andrew Jackson Highway in Columbus County.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, it happened Tuesday night around 9:00 o’clock in the area of mile marker 245 in Hallsboro.

One driver said she was heading west when she saw two people on the side of the road. An unknown object was thrown at her vehicle, damaging the front of it.

Another driver was also heading west when something struck and broke his windshield.

Then, a FedEx driver saw a man standing by the road. The man threw an unknown object and broke the vehicle’s windshield.

The damage on all three vehicles is estimated at around $2,500.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
