NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Just one day after Crime Stoppers announced a $5,000 reward for information on an armed robbery in New Hanover County, two people are now charged with the crime.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says they received a tip through Crime Stoppers that led investigators to James Randolph Williams, 60.
Williams is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Williams is being held under a $25,000 bond.
The armed robbery happened on January 29 at the Circle K on Gordon Road.
Wednesday morning, another man, Yul Vernel Bannerman, 50, also turned himself in. According to a news release, Bannerwan was driving the getaway vehicle. Bannerman is charged with conspiracy of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Bannerman was just released from prison in 2017 after serving nearly 10 years for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Bannerman has a $100,000 bond.
