Wilmington Police searching for driver in hit-and-run that injured two


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are searching for a driver accused of driving off after causing an accident that injured two people.

Police have issued warrants for Garrett Raney Hill, 28, after he allegedly struck a vehicle and then drove the wrong way on a one way street last month.

Officers responded to the intersection of South 17th Street and Market Street around 10 p.m. on January 27, where the victim told officers she was driving north on South 17th Street when the suspect turned south onto the same street from Market.

South 17th Street only travels northbound. The suspect collided with the victim, causing extensive damage to the victim’s car.

EMS transported the driver and passenger of the victim’s vehicle to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The suspect drove away, by continuing to travel the wrong way on South 17th Street.

Several parts of the suspect’s car were left at the scene. Using those parts left at the scene, investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle and identify the suspect the driver.

Hill is facing charges of hit and run leaving the scene with property damage and driving the wrong way on a one way street
