The $4.2 million project included a brand new basketball court, scoreboard, and multiple locker rooms for players and officials.

“Were just excited to be able to open this facility for the Wilmington community and for our student athletes,” CFCC Men’s Basketball Coach Ryan Mantlo said. “To be able to see them smile and have fun and to be able to call this home is really cool.”

The Cape Fear Athletic teams have been practicing and playing at local high schools and middle schools, now their glad to be home.

“The 6:00 a.m. practices and 5:30 a.m. practices, traveling everywhere to different locations, just means that’s all over and done with,” CFCC Women’s Basketball Player Taylor Todd-Williams said. “You know were able to come in here, we have our own locker room. So, it feels really good.”

The Sea Devil Men’s Basketball team will take the court at 7 p.m. Wednesday at home for the first time taking on Brunswick Community College.

The money for the project came from a 2008 New Hanover County bond referendum, student athletics fees, and a school fundraiser.
