WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the UNCW men’s basketball team, but some of the bright spots have come in the form of a pair of players who have now been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association’s coaches and media.
For the second straight year senior Devontae Cacok earned a spot on the All-CAA first team. Cacok averaged a double-double with 14.9 points and 12.3 rebounds. The conference leader in rebounds, he leads all NCAA Division I players with 22 double-doubles. He’s attempting to become the first player in NCAA history to lead three separate statistical categories in as many seasons after topping the land in field goal percentage in 2017 and rebounds per game in 2018.
Meanwhile freshman point guard Kai Toews earned All-Rookie team honors. He averaged 8.8. points and 7.8 assists.
The Seahawks (9-22, 5-13 CAA) open play in the CAA Tournament as the No. 10 seed. They take on No. 7 Elon tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in North Charleston, SC.
