UNCW men’s basketball falls to Northeastern in CAA quarterfinals


CHARLESTON, SC (WWAY)–Devontae Cacok recorded his 23rd double-double of the year , but it wasn’t enough for UNCW men’s basketball. The Seahawks fell 80-59 to the Northeastern Huskies in the CAA tournament quarterfinals in North Charleston.

Northeastern led for all but 34 seconds of the game. UNCW trimmed the Husky lead down to six at point, midway through the first half. The Seahawks would never get closer than that the rest of the way. Jeantal Cylla and Cacok were the only two UNCW players to finish with double figures in scoring. Cylla had 12 points on 5-11 shooting from the field.

Northeastern’s leading scorer in the win was Jordan Roland. The All-CAA first-team selection had 21 points , going 5-10 from three-point range to lead three Huskies in double-figures. Northeastern as a team hit 12 three pointers. UNCW attempted just seven going 1-7 in the loss.

UNCW ends their season with a 10-23 overall record
