BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A local high school marching band is heading to the nation’s capitol to represent North Carolina this July 4.
A Brunswick County Schools spokesman said last year Senator Thom Tillis nominated the North Brunswick High School Marching Scorpions as the representative of North Carolina for the 2019 National Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC.
The marching band now needs the community’s help to meet their fundraising goal.
Brunswick County Schools said it’s been a tough fundraising year with Hurricane Florence, but the band has raised more than $20,000 of the $30,000 goal to be able to pay all expenses for the trip.
Community members who want to help the group reach their goal can donate at www.nbhsbands.org.
