“We are extremely excited to welcome Roman Tubner and his family to our program,” said Barefoot, who begins her third season at the helm. “His work ethic, dedication and passion for the game matches our ‘Teal Collar’ approach. He brings strong recruiting ties along with basketball experience as he was named to the WBCA 30 Under 30 list. We are looking forward to having him on board as we continue to build this program to a championship level.”

In his lone season at Indiana State, Tubner helped the Sycamores average 62.3 points per game, the team’s highest scoring output in five years. In addition, he helped coordinate one of the top recruiting classes in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Tubner joined the Sycamores after serving as an assistant coach at Austin Peay in 2017-18. He helped the Governors record their most victories in a decade while working primarily with the post players, including Brianne Alexander, who earned First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference distinction.

Prior to his time at Austin Peay, Tubner spent three years as the lone assistant coach at Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns racked up a 73-19 record with a pair of conference championships and three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.

Tubner began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Arkansas-Monticello before being elevated to assistant coach. At UAM, the squad authored a 21-win campaign in 2011-12 and produced three NCAA Division II All-American selections.

A 2011 graduate of Centenary College, Tubner was a two-year starter and team captain for the Gents and averaged nine points per game in his career.
