PENDER COUNTY (WWAY)– Even though we’re on the coast, and we talk a lot about rain here. We have deserts in our area, food deserts.
The food bank is partnering with Carolina Complete Health, packing 300 hefty boxes of fresh food to take to some of those food deserts.
Food bank branch director Beth Gaglione says this is the first time the two organizations are working together.
She says Carolina Complete Health donated money to purchase the food.
Gaglione says the goal is to invest in healthy food for those who live in low income areas, and don’t have transportation to a grocery store.
