2nd Annual State of Education and Economy in Pender County

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Pender Education Partnership held its second annual State of Education and Economy event Thursday night.

Pender County Superintendent Doctor Steven Hill, Cape Fear Community College President Jim Morton and Pender County Manager Chad McEwen spoke to attendees about ongoing measures to help the community grow.

McEwen says the county is under contract to purchase a 14,000 square foot space in the Pender Commerce Park for a partnership with Cape Fear community college to teach skilled trades like welding, electrical, and HVAC.

Pender Education Partnership Officials also got the chance to showcase the work they do to enhance the educational experience for teachers and students in Pender County through mini-grant programs, scholarships and more.
