CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A whole lot of used live Christmas trees are going to be put to good use in Pleasure Island.
It’s an annual tradition to rebuild the dunes, and this year the town says they have more than enough.
The Town of Carolina Beach and the Cape Fear Surfrider Foundation have been teaming up for more than 8 years for the dune restoration project. Committee Member Ethan Crouch says the group asked for 80 trees and they’ll have plenty to work with this year. He says this year the project will focus on dunes from Scotch Bonnett to Oyster Shell Lane.
