HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — One Holden Beach home was destroyed by a fire on Monday morning.
The call came in around 11:50 a.m. to the report of a structure fire. Multiple fire departments and police responded to the call at 1018 Ocean Boulevard West.
“When our officer arrived it was fully involved at that time,”said Holden Beach Police Chief Jeremy Dixon. “The officer of course requested the fire department, who were already in route. They arrived on scene shortly there after.”
One home was destroyed. Two homes on each side of it were also damaged by the fire. There were also reports of small grass fires nearby from the ashes and embers. Neighbors on scene said they originally thought it was a small fire, but that quickly changed as they got closer.
“I came back on the beach from my walk and I saw some smoke,”said neighbor Cailee Moon. “I was like okay maybe its just a little fire that someones burning and then I saw a really big cloud of smoke coming over our house. So, I started sprinting back.”
Police tell WWAY that no one was hurt as result of the fire.
“It looks like everyone made it out safely and everyone’s safer at this time.”
No word yet on what caused the fire. Fire crews on scene said the investigation was still ongoing.
