Protests break out in Charlotte over death of George Floyd

CHARLOTTE, NC (WSOC) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are continuing to try and gain control of crowds in west Charlotte after protests started to get violent and escalate.

Hundreds of protesters gathered Friday evening outside the Metro division police station in west Charlotte on Beatties Ford Road.

The protest is over the death of 46-year-old George Floyd, a black man who died at the hands of the Minneapolis police after being detained for questioning regarding a possible forgery in progress.
