Wilmington Police taser, arrest man after Sunday shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a man who fired several rounds in the 2000 block of Princess Place Drive Sunday.

A Shotspotter alert activated around 4:30 p.m. dispatching an officer to the location. When the officer arrived he found 25-year-old Antwon Terrell Hansley standing on the outside of his vehicle holding a handgun.

WPD says the officer gave Hansley several commands but he refused to comply. The officer then used a taser on Hansley and took him into custody without further incident.

Officers located Hansley’s one-year-old daughter in the rear of the vehicle unharmed. She was safely returned to her mother.

Police believe that Hansley was under the influence of narcotics. The handgun he was using is stolen.

Hansley has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm by Felon
  • Possession of a Stolen Firearm
  • Discharging a Firearm in City Limits

Police say additional charges are pending at this time.
