LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The North Brunswick High School class of 2020 gathered on campus early Saturday morning to celebrate their graduation.

The class first met on the football field to take a socially distanced class picture before heading to their cars for the parade.

Cars were decked out with car paint, streamers, balloons and posters.

Many graduates sported their caps and gowns during the parade, some sitting on top of their cars through a sunroof or riding in the back of convertibles and trucks.

Jeff Gordon Chevrolet volunteered cars for the valedictorian, salutatorian, class president, and class vice president to ride in during the parade.

NBHS Prom King Demond Perry says it feels great to celebrate the class’ accomplishments.

“It honestly gets a little bit of weight of your back, you feel me? It feels great.” Perry said. “We’re doing it the right way since we didn’t get a real celebration. I’m happy to celebrate anyway. I just like to celebrate!”

Perry says he plans to attend Guilford College in the fall.
