CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Yard signs promoting an anti-hate message will soon be popping up in front of homes around Pleasure Island.

Anya Jones and Jasmine McKee came up with the idea to make signs that read, “Hate Has No Home on Our Island” a few weeks ago.

Jones gave an update Wednesday, saying they sold nearly 350 signs.

The signs were just printed and will be delivered across Carolina Beach and Kure Beach over the next few days.

She says because of the outpouring of support for this project they will be donating almost $1,000 to both nonprofits Kids Making It and Northwest Youth Corps Inc.

“During these incredibly difficult and divisive times, we can take solace in the fact that so many people here on the island were compelled to share their support for a loving, inclusive message and two fantastic organizations,” Jones wrote online.
