SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — A side effect of the coronavirus pandemic has been more people making more life-changing decisions like buying and selling their home.
Selling homes is hard enough, but how can you sell in a time like this? Unique Media and Design says they’ve been prepared to tackled this problem for years.
“The 3-D Matterport Tours gives a potential buyer or renter a chance to walk through the house without being in the house so they can kind of look through every square inch of a property without physically being on site,” Alicia Hawley, the Vice President of Unique Media and Design, said.
Hawley says they’ve tracked a nearly 400% increase in online traffic.
“Most of the platforms we use allow us to track statistics as far as where people are looking at properties from to how many times a certain property has been looked at,” Hawley said.
Hawley says the team works directly with realtors to sell homes as far north as Emerald Isle and south as Ocean Isle Beach.
“We’ve had homes close by our homes that have been on the market for 3 or 4 days,” Hawley said. “So, where the trend would typically be a 30 day sale would be a pretty quick sale, it’s not uncommon to see something go under contract for a week.”
As for the future of real estate, Hawley says she sees many realtors sticking to this safe marketing tool.
“Most people sell their house and it’s kind of an inconvenience to have people in and out when you are showing, so the fact that they can’t actually look at the house in it’s entirety helps to alleviate the traffic that might not be necessary,” Hawley said.
Cape Fear Realtors says real estate sales have rebounded over the last couple of months. They say their June sales are back to typical numbers, despite the coronavirus.
