WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As cases of coronavirus continue, local organizations are working to make testing more available.

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church partnered with the Middle District Missionary Baptist Association and Goshen Medical Center to provide free drive-thru COVID-19 testing in Downtown Wilmington on Saturday.

The only requirement was to register ahead of time to be served at the testing site.

Reverend Dr. Reginald Barnes says it is important for them to address the crisis and provide help to the community and those who may not have access to testing and transportation otherwise.

“Certain things may deter them from pursuing testing. Instead of giving them an address to go to, we thought it would be much more effective and efficient if we were to bring the service right to the community,” Barnes said.

Goshen Medical Staff says tests are typically back within two days, but due to the high volume test results can take anywhere from 4 to 7 days to come back.
