BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — As COVID-19 numbers continue to rise, the demand for testing is surging as well. Novant Health says if you need to get tested, do not go to the emergency department.

“Emergency rooms have seen an influx of people trying to get tested and we are hoping to remind everyone of the importance of selecting the most appropriate venue of care,” the hospital wrote in a release.

Visit here to view the resources available for testing.

“Visiting emergency rooms only to get tested heightens the risk of exposure to everyone, including those at high risk, and puts a strain on resources and timeliness of care for those who need it most,” the hospital wrote.

Novant has a dedicated site for COVID-19 screenings with or without an appointment.

  • Novant Health Screening Center (located at Novant Health Oceanside Convenient Care) – 5145 Sellers Rd. in Shallotte, NC 28470. The screening center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

If you are unsure of whether you need a COVID-19 test, call your primary care provider or 877-9NOVANT before traveling to a screening center. You can also take our online assessment available at NovantHealth.org/coronavirus.
