CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Carolina Beach has received a matching grant for $175,000 to fund the renovation of the Lake Park playground.
The grant was awarded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). The LWCF has historically been a primary funding source of the U.S. Department of the Interior for outdoor recreation development and land acquisition by local governments and state agencies.
The Parks and Recreation Department requested permission from Town Council to apply for the grant in June 2020, and the application was submitted to the state at the end of July 2020.
Earlier this year, the town told WWAY that upgrades will include a splash pad, amphitheater, playground, farmers market shelter, and more.
