Alexa Block joined WWAY in January 2015 from KOTA Territory News, the ABC affiliate in Rapid City, SD. She spent more than a year doing general assignment and sports reporting. She was all over Black Hills covering anything from high school rodeos to the Keystone XL Pipeline. But it wasn't all about work, Alexa coached a girls volleyball team and played in an adult recreation league. She is part of the reigning championship division B sand volleyball team, and she has the t-shirt to prove it.
The southern California native graduated from Pacific University where she was a four-year varsity starter on the volleyball team. She was named Conference Player of the Week three times and was named to the All-Conference team each year. She set a school record for most kills in a four-set match and broke it twice.
When she wasn't on the court she was writing for the school newspaper, making movie magic in the film program and enjoying all the weirdness Portland had to offer.
Alexa interned at both KOIN and KATU in Portland.
When she’s not chasing down leads Alexa is looking for some volleyball action, catching a basketball game or shopping.
