Teacher Of The Week

Teacher of the Week: Kristen Hewett

The entire student body of Brunswick County Academy turned out to surprise and congratulate history teacher Kristen Hewett as Teacher of the Week. She is a beloved teacher who says she teaches history because it lets her "continue to be a nerd."

Teacher of the Week: Royanna Jackson

Royanna Jackson says she has "always been a little jealous of the other teachers who get nominated" for Teacher of the Week. Now, however she can happily say "it's nice to feel so honored."

Teacher of the Week: Judy Beaman

High expectations, a positive attitude, respect and a joy for teaching are the qualities that brought us to Wrightsboro Elementary School teacher Judy Beaman. Our Teacher of the Week is a first grade teacher who loves challenging her students grow every day. "Every day is the unexpected," she says, "It's all about exploration and learning and challenging them to learn and to grow and to do more every day."

Teacher of the Week: Denise Davis

Denise Davis is called encouraging, motivating and inspiring, but not by her students. She was nominated by fellow teacher Christian Williams who says she is a wonderful mentor as well as an amazing teacher. "She always has a smiling face when you walk in the door," he says.

Teacher of the Week: Breanna Lodato

Mistakes are proof you're trying and smiles are contagious. Those are the two mottos of teacher of the week, Breanna Lodato.

Teacher of the Week: Joshua Bailey

The Broadway musical 'Hamilton' stretches it's influence all the way to the classroom of Joshua Bailey at Cape Fear Middle School. It helps him teach Social Studies to his 9th graders. "It's just awesome to see them get engaged in dead founding fathers that they wouldn't normally," he says, "it has really opened up the door for them."

Teacher of the Week: Tracey Failla

Think back to first grade, you probably remember your teacher. First Grade teacher, Tracey Failla, is making a big impact on her students at Pine Valley Elementary School. That's why she is our Teacher of the Week.

Teacher of the Week: Stella Li

Li Zhu, or Stella Li as she goes by, traveled half way around the world to teach Mandarin Chinese at Williston Middle School. She says she came here because she wanted to teach, but also to "widen your mind."

Teacher of the Week: Chris Cook

Keeping the beat and getting kids ready for the future is what happens in Chris Cook's band classes at North Brunswick High School. He says 'band teaches you all these life skills." His philosophy is that his students are going to use the skills he's teaching them long after they leave NBHS. "They're going to take these skills," he says "even they don't become music majors or go to school for music."
