Artist Lin Frye to Speak to the Art League Of Leland
June 13 @ 4:00pm - 6:00pmFree
The Art League of Leland (ALL) invites artists and art enthusiasts to its June 13 meeting with artist Lin Frye as its featured guest speaker. Frye will discuss sketching in its many forms, share tips and techniques for sketching, and demonstrate how sketchbooks allow her to tell her story in words and images. The meeting will take place at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, 1212 Magnolia Village Way, Leland, NC 28451.
An avid watercolorist, Frye loves the spontaneous and fresh approach of ink and wash. While she states that her paintings are “expressions of the joy and wonder” she finds in living, she believes that one can know her better through her sketchbooks than her finished works. A trained ethnobotanist (one who studies the relationships of people and plants), Frye teaches watercolor classes and is a board member of the Cape Fear Sketchers. Her artwork has been sold throughout the United States and Europe.
ALL’s June spotlight is on Susan Sims-Pritts, Executive Director of the Brunswick Arts Council (BAC). Sims-Pritts will discuss the BAC’s varied work across the county helping its many partners with performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, arts services (grants and scholarships), classes, concerts, art shows, and festivals.
ALL’s mission is to encourage, guide, support, inform, and provide learning opportunities for area artists and advocates of the arts. ALL welcome artists and art lovers not only from Leland but also from neighboring communities. To learn more, go to www.Artleagueofleland.org.
