Cape Fear Shakespeare on the Green 27th annual free-to-the-public Shakespeare festival

June 6 @ 8:00pm - June 30 @ 10:00pm

Free

Cape Fear Shakespeare on the Green has been among Wilmington’s most anticipated summer traditions since 1993. The annual free-to-the-public Shakespeare festival, in association with the City of Wilmington, opens June 6, and continues throughout the month of June. Visitors to Historic Wilmington and North Carolina’s Cape Fear Coast can experience and enjoy free live productions of the Bard’s works at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. A great family evening underneath the stars, and an unmatched spirit of community in one of Wilmington’s most beloved parks.

Our regular festival show opens June 6. “Love’s Labour’s Lost”, directed by Zeb Mims is a hormone-driven battle of wits and genders: Letters are misdelivered, disguises are donned, secret soliloquies are overheard by others, and a few fools to keep the humor high.

Gates open at 6:30pm and all performances begin at 8:00 pm
June 6, 7, 9, June 14, 15, 16 June 20, 22, 23 and 28, 29, 30.

The Cape Fear Shakespeare Youth Company opens June 8, celebrating its 15th season. “Shakespeare on a Midsummer Eve”, directed by Cherri McKay, is an original adaptation of some of Shakespeare’s most beloved works.
