Law enforcement cracking down on school zone violations

Highway patrol wants to remind you to take extra precaution when driving through a school zone, or near a school bus.

Nationwide, the number of school zone violations has gone up, and that has local law enforcement agencies cracking down. Highway patrol wants drivers to know these are serious violations that can lead to serious consequences.

“We’re out here protecting out most precious commodity, which is the children,” said First Sgt. Morris. “That is why we put the extra effort out here, especially during the school year and around these school zones.”

A violation, like passing a school bus, could mean five points on your license, plus court costs.
