WWAY’s Monday night sports – Feb. 4

videoOn Monday night two of Wilmington's private schools took center stage on the hardwood at Cape Fear Academy. As it turns out, the visitors from Coastal Christian defeated Cape Fear Academy in both boys and girls varsity basketball. On Monday night the road woes for UNC Wilmington continued in men's college basketball. Towson defeated UNCW 81-68.

videoOn Friday night we featured high school basketball action from all across the region. We had highlights from Shallotte, Whiteville, Lake Waccamaw, Deep Run, New Bern, Rocky Point, Greenville and Wilmington.

videoA handful of games were postponed on Friday, but we still had more than our fair share of high school basketball on Friday's Full Court Press. In the Mideastern Conference the Hoggard boys moved into sole possession of first place with a win over Ashley. In the Waccamaw Conference North Brunswick remains the first place team.

WWAY’s Monday night sports – Jan. 14

videoOn Monday we found out Ryan McCleney will be returning to the Wilmington Sharks as field manager for the second summer in a row. On Monday we checked out action on the hardwood between two of Wilmington's private high schools. As expected Duke is no longer ranked number one in the nation in college hoops. The Blue Devils lost to the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday.

WWAY’s Tuesday night sports – Dec. 4

videoOn Tuesday on WWAY we checked out high school basketball action from around the region. NC State beat Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic in New York. The Coastal Cowboys won a consolation game on Tuesday at the Pop Warner Super Bowl at Disney.

WWAY’s Tuesday night sports – Nov. 27

videoOn Tuesday on WWAY we checked out the home opener of the 4-A defending state champion New Hanover Wildcats. Tuesday marked the beginning of the Nathan Faulk era at Laney High School. Tuesday also marked the final game for Coastal Christian at their current basketball facility. The Centurions move into a new gym on Friday.

WWAY’s Tuesday night sports – Nov. 13

video On Tuesday the UNCW men's basketball trailed by 50 points against the Richmond Spiders. UNCW ended up losing by 43 points. It's the third largest loss margin for the Seahawks in school history.... On Tuesday the New Hanover boys soccer team fell one game short of making it to the state title game.... On Tuesday the UNC Tar Heels made it official. The season is over for Hoggard grad Casey Barth due to an ankle injury.... Plus more !

Coastal Christian High School dedicates new building

video Wilmington's Coastal Christian High School will soon open the doors to a brand new building. Though it will be a few weeks before it actually opens, the school dedicated the new facility this afternoon.
