West Columbus standout Jagger Haynes selected by Padres in MLB Draft

Columbus County has become a hot bed for baseball over the years and now another local kid will have chance to play professionally. West Columbus High School senior Jagger Haynes was drafted on Thursday night in the 5th round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres. 

New Hanover standout Blake Walston signs with Diamondbacks

The whirlwind of a senior year continued for New Hanover High School standout Blake Walson on Wednesday evening. Walston signed his first professional baseball contract agreeing to a $2.45 million dollar deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

West Columbus graduate and ECU Pirate Trey Benton had his dream come true over the weekend. Benton signed his first professional baseball contract with the Cleveland Indians.
