The federal Office of Management and Budget has denied a request to move Brunswick County back into the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Earlier this year OMB designated the county as part of the Myrtle Beach MSA.
The regional fight continues in attempt to get Brunswick County back into Wilmington’s metropolitan statistical area, after the Office of Management and Budget announced its move to Myrtle Beach's MSA earlier this year.
We all know Brunswick County is part of southeastern North Carolina, but the federal government sees the map differently. A new designation means the Census Bureau will factor Brunswick County's population, income and demographics into the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.
