Gallop before the gravy

video Runners laced up this morning for a 5k race called "Gallop for the Gravy." The race took off at the YMCA on Market Street and wrapped around Wilmington. Runners of all ages participated in the event, some running just for fun while others pushed themselves to finish first.

Want to join a free running club for kids?

Not many things in life are free. The New Hanover County K-12 Running Club is free though. Starting Monday, June 25th the club will meet every Monday. All school-aged children and teenagers who enjoy running are encouraged to attend.

City council approves fee on runners

City council unanimously approved a fee for runners who participate in city races. It also approved a fee schedule.

video Runners may soon have to shell out more cash for their hobby. The proposed fee is part of Wilmington's recommended budget for the upcoming year. It would require all city race participants to pay an extra dollar for each race they run.

Wrightsville Beach Marathon benefical for runners and economy

video 2,400 runners took off before sunrise for the Wrightsville Beach Marathon and Half-marathon Sunday morning. The race started in Wrightsville Beach, made it's way around the Landfall community and ended in Mayfair.

Fort Fisher Combat Fun Run

videoThe Fort Fisher Air Force Base served as the backdrop for a combat fun run on Sunday. The event was a fundraiser for the local non-profit "Step Up For Soldiers" and proceeds will benefit the fallen soldiers memorial in Wilmington which will be dedicated next month.
