2,400 runners took off before sunrise for the Wrightsville Beach Marathon and Half-marathon Sunday morning. The race started in Wrightsville Beach, made it's way around the Landfall community and ended in Mayfair.
Runners filled the streets of downtown Wilmington Saturday morning for the annual Tri-Span run 10K run. It was a hot day to run, but that didn't stop John Rendleman from covering some of the elite runners in the Cape Fear region.
The Fort Fisher Air Force Base served as the backdrop for a combat fun run on Sunday. The event was a fundraiser for the local non-profit "Step Up For Soldiers" and proceeds will benefit the fallen soldiers memorial in Wilmington which will be dedicated next month.
