Athletes all across the nation have had their voices heard when it comes to the Black Lives Matter movement, but over the last month the number of athletes has grown. Student-athletes at UNCW are now adding their voices into the mix.

UNCW senior guard Ahyiona Vason has certainly enjoyed playing in the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship over the last two years. The senior guard, who set a career high with 24 points in last year's tournament against Northeastern, tallied a team-high 20 points in this year's opening round game against Charleston to lift the No. 9-seeded Seahawks to a 69-55 victory over the eighth-seeded Cougars at Elon University's Schar Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Matt Suggs sent the Seahawks home winners with a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth in a 5-2 win over nationally-ranked East Carolina on Wednesday at Brooks Field.
The UNCW baseball team is coming off of a series loss to Memphis last weekend at Brooks Field and they will have their hands full again on Wednesday night. The Diamond Hawks will take on No.24 East Carolina University for the first time this season.
