Wilmington man found dead in backstreet alley

WILMINGTON -- Around five o'clock Saturday afternoon Wilmington police responded to a report of a body found in an alley off of 16th Street near Nun Street. The victim was 24-year-old Ronald Nathan Conyers Jr. Investigators say they found Conyers's body just three blocks from where he lived. Back at home, his family upset and left only with questions. "I just want to know why?" Takeda Thompson was Conyers's girlfriend and mother of his eight-month-old daughter. Conyers also leaves behind a young son and his mother, Samantha Buchanon. "My son's murderer will be caught. I'm not upset with the person. I just bless them, because they really don't know what they've done," she said. No arrests and no suspects have been named in connection with Conyers's death. If you know anything about this homicide, call the Wilmington police department at 343-3645.
