What was being called a suspicious death of a 62-year-old Southport woman is now being ruled a homicide. Southport Police Chief Jerry Dove said around 2:30 Friday afternoon, someone noticed a broken window at Gladys Myrie's home at 307 West 11th Street. The woman was found lying on the bedroom floor. Brunswick County Coroner Greg White said she was stabbed to death. The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office and the SBU are still investigating. Neighbors say the news of the murder is shocking. ”It makes it look bad around here. It makes it look bad around here. A neighborhood like this it's quiet here at night. A bunch of cars be riding by but nobody bothers anybody in this in this neighborhood,” said John Watson Williams. This is the first reported murder in Southport this year. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Southport Police Department or the Brunsiwck County Sheriff's office. There is a two thousand dollar reward.
