Today a group of World War II veterans unveiled a new window display at Independence Mall. The display was put together by a non-profit program called Honor Flight of Southeastern North Carolina. The window features the organizations mission statement, and memorabilia from World War II. The window will raise awareness for the grass roots organization which flies veterans to our nations capitol for free, to see the World War II memorial.

Honor Flight will transport 102 veterans to D.C. on April 13th.All involved believe it will be an incredible experience.

“Many of them haven't talked about the war in 65 years. They're going go to this beautiful memorial and spend the time reflecting and probably stirring up a lot of emotions for them,” said Honor Flight president Jason Mcleod.

Howard Brackett is a WWII veteran and he said, “This whole thing honoring the World War II veterans, I think is one of the nicest things that's happened in my lifetime.”

Right now top priority is given to World War II vets or terminally ill veterans from all wars.
