Tate won't seek new office

PENDER COUNTY -- Pender County's Commission chair will not seek a different office after all. Jimmy Tate announced he will not run for Clerk of Superior Court.

In a release Tate cited a family member's medical condition as one reason for the decision. He says people have also asked him to stay on the County Commission.

Tate said he made the decision now so Democrats can find another candidate to challenge incumbent clerk Robert Kilroy.
