BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A small community in Brunswick County is in mourning after three people died there over the weekend in an apparent double murder-suicide. It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday.

According to a family friend, Brandon Warr shot his wife Sheryl and her friend Dennis Blalock. The friend said the couple had been having problems for the past three weeks. When all three ran in to each other Saturday night behind the Brunsco Fishing Club, heated words were exchanged. Brandon reportedly left and then returned with a gun. The friend said Brandon shot Blalock and Sheryl before turning the gun on himself. Blalock died at the scene. Sheryl and Brandon Warr later died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Neighbors said they are simply shocked.

"We're such a close knit community around here, and everybody comes out to help one another, so I mean I was really shocked," Valerie Smith said.

"You seldom hear of anything like that going on down here," Wanda Price. "It's a peaceful quiet neighborhood. Every once in a while we get a rowdy bunch around, but it's usually just a little fuss, and they go on about their business."

Anyone who has information should contact the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office at (910) 253-2777.

I love and miss you daddy<3

This whole situation is a shame.......but preventable. May they all rest in peace. It seems that the very community that some live in turn a blind eye toward the real issues in Sunset Harbor. The drug dealers, past shootings, and the plentiful drunks that fill the community. Is this really a tight knit community or is there a tight knit click that is naive to the community that they really live in?

I notice no one says anything about this Brandon Warr having easy access to a gun. What a manly, grown-up way to deal with his problems; go and grab a gun and shoot some people. Did he turn to anyone for help over those past few weeks? Doesn't sound like it. Relationships don't always last, but they definitely don't when someone stops reasoning and simply kills on impulse.

Not knowing the exact situation, I can assume that this couple was at the end of their marriage. The future ex-husband found the future ex-wife with the new boyfriend. I have felt the overwelming rage that this guy felt. That kind of rage borders on insanity. Sometimes people in that situation cross the border and snap. I almost did, and would have shared this guys fate. Having kids keeps you a little better grounded in reality.....that's what saved me. But, we are all ruled by our emotions and sometime those emotions take control.

What a sad and tragic ending for Dennis,Brandon and Sheryl. When you know people are in need of a kind hand it is your business to extend your hand, I wish I had extended mine a little more. Hard lesson and great losses. The devil walks among us we must unite with one another to keep him at bay. May the three of them walk with Jesus I pray. YOU ALL WILL BE MISSED !!!

small community that never has problems, this area has more crooks than anyother community in brunswick county, just ask anyone how many houses have been broke into, more than most can count, its a play ground for thieves, killings not many thieves alot......

Brandon was a friend of mine from high school, of course i dont know the circumstances surrounding this incident, he will be truly missed, God bless all the friends and families of everyone involved

This is my friend of many, many years. God rest her soul. All of their souls.

I live in the Sunset Harbor area and knew the Warr couple. I cannot believe that this happened to them! It's just so shocking. I hope that investigators discover what truly happened in this case. We cannot rely on hearsay as truth. May they all rest in peace in the arms of God.
