ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) -- Elizabethtown's town manager says despite some bumps in the road, the town's revitalization program is showing signs of progress.

In the next two weeks crews should be done moving overhead power lines underground along with moving traffic signals to metal polls from overhead wires.

The project has encountered problems including fuel tanks found underground and weather delays.

The project, which was supposed to be finished around Thanksgiving should now be done in early spring. The goal of the revitalization project was to give Elizabethtown a facelift. The town manager says the results should be worth all the headaches.

Has the "revitalization" team noticed the potholes in other areas of town that have long been there and are getting worse? How about the uneven sidewalks in various places? How about parking issues long before this "revitalization" started taking place? There is a need for more handicapped parking places. There's other places in town that need a "facelift" for safety reasons and not for good looks.

...it's all a waste of time. Try "revitalizing" your parking - this isn't 1956 and you're not Mayberry.
