WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Commissioners held a joint breakfast meeting this morning with the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen.
"It's a chance for us all to get together and just have some casual time and get to know each other," commissioner Rick Catlin said. "Of course I know the Wrightsville beach folks a lot. I've worked with him for a long time."
On the agenda for the morning was beach renourishment. Last cycle there was not enough federal money to renourish all New Hanover County beaches, which is supposed to happen every four years.
Mayor David Cignotti was excited to come together to discuss issues important to the town and county.
"Today is just more of awareness; things that we can maybe work together on," Cignotti said. "Some things are more or less updates, like how the R3 solid waste situation is going, the Emergency Operations Center. There are some proposals that we have there that maybe would help our beach town out."
Commissioners and aldermen also talked about property taxes and tourism in the region.
