WPD: B&E suspect arrested, another on the run

Summary: Officers were dispatched to the Go Gas #2 for an in-progress breaking and entering. A witness reported that he was driving by the store when he heard a loud noise. He saw someone breaking into the business, and then leaving the area in a truck heading westbound on Wrightsville Avenue. Based on the vehicle description, a WPD officer spotted the truck and attempted to stop it. But the truck sped away and then crashed into a utility pole at Broad Street and Covil Avenue. Two men ran away from the wrecked truck. A WPD K-9 unit apprehended one suspect in the woods nearby. The second suspect is still at large. David Allen Ward, d.o.b. 4-27-1976, was charged with B & E felony – forced, larceny after breaking and entering, and motor vehicle theft. He is in custody at the NHC detention facility under $28,000 secure bond.
