A pair of former UNCW soccer stars are moving up and moving on, but not moving out.

A news conference was held Monday to announce goalie Brock Duckworth and striker Devan Carroll have each signed a contract with the Wilmington Hammerheads.

Duckworth finished both his junior and senior season ranked nationally in goals against average and save percentage.

Carroll is a graduate of White Oak High School in Jacksonville and was the 2008 CAA Player of the Year.

This may not be the end of the signings. David Irving believes other Seahawks could become Hammerheads in the future.

“Obviously Brock and Devan have agreed to terms, but there are four or five other guys who play for Aiden (Heaney – UNCW soccer coach) that are still out there the door isn't actually closed yet, there could be some more opportunities,” Irving said.

The Hammerheads will play in the America Division of the newly launched United Soccer League Pro.

The Hammers open the 2011 season on April 16th. The Rochester Rhinos will visit Legion Stadium for the first game of the new era.
