Azalea Festival Cake Challenge to offer cash prizes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Still trying to decide whether to compete in this year's Azalea Festival Cake Challenge? How's this for incentive: cash prizes.

The Azalea Festival will offer cash prizes for the first time this year when judging the Cake Challenge.

The winner of the professional division will take home $200, while second place gets $100 and third $50.

Both the advanced and novice sections of the amateur division will receive $100 for first place, with second taking $50 and third pocketing $30.

Judges will also give out engraved platters, prize ribbons and gift certificates for various achievements.

Cake challenge

Can the general public view the cakes? If so where do we go to see them? I love o bake and watch Challenge on the food network!!!
