Wilmington Police Department
Overnight Report
March 9 - 10, 2011

Case#:2011-011511
Time: 10:38 p.m. – Wednesday night
Location: 3500 Oleander Drive
Offenses: Armed Robbery/Felony speeding to elude

Summary: The female victim, age 27, reported that she was in her car at the ATM when two young men approached her. One of them placed a handgun to her head, demanded money and her cell phone, and made her get out of the car. The victim gave up the cash she had just taken from the ATM, as well as her phone. Then the robbers drove away in the victim’s car, a 2003 silver Hyundai Tiburon GT. A WPD officer spotted the car within minutes of the vehicle description being broadcast. WPD officers pursued the car across the Memorial Bridge into Leland. Leland and Navassa PD officers responded to the area to assist. Eventually the suspect driving the stolen car crashed into a ditch. Both suspects fled on foot, with a WPD K-9 team close behind. One suspect was apprehended almost immediately. The SABLE crew in the air guided officers on the ground to the last known location of the second suspect, and the same WPD K-9 team located him hiding in some debris near a shed.
