Brunswick Commissioners vote to censure Warren

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- On the agenda at the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners meeting last night was the censure of Commissioner Charles Warren. The issue at hand was Warren serving on both the Board of Commissioners and the county Social Services Board.

Warren did not show up at the meeting last night, however board members unanimously approved a non-binding censure stating that Warren is violating the county's code of ethics by serving on both boards.

"I hope that it would encourage him to step down from the board and abide by the code of ethics," Commission Chair Bill Sue said. "But it's up to him."

Sue also said that it's a matter of allegiance and a conflict of interest because the two boards compete for county funds.

Bladen County requires that

Bladen County requires that a county commissioner be on the social services board. Ain't it funny that this is a problem in NH County?
