WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- It's a celebration 200 years in the making. Today Whiteville residents got together to celebrate the town's bicentennial.
The celebration kicked-off with an expo at the historic Vineland Train Depot. More than two dozen exhibitors were set up along with a display of historical artifacts.
"We're excited today to be celebrating our bicentennial," Henry Hawthorne, of the Greater Whiteville Chamber of Commerce said. "Great event today. The Bicentennial BANG giving us an opportunity to celebrate the town and the businesses that make the community what it is, so really a fun day."
Besides the expo, an art stroll in the middle of downtown is scheduled this evening. It runs until 8:30 p.m.
