UPDATE: Investigators say firefighter was speeding on way to call when wreck happened

TAR HEEL, NC (WWAY) - State Highway Patrol Investigators say a Tar Heel firefighter was speeding on his way to a fire call when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an oncoming car.

They say David J. Hunsinger, Jr., who died in the accident, was doing 65 mph in a 55 mph zone when he wrecked.

One investigator told an area newspaper it appeared Hunsinger was distracted by something when he swerved onto the shoulder, then over-corrected, which put him into oncoming traffic.

Most likely no charges will be filed.
