CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) - First lady Michelle Obama and the wife of Vice President Joe Biden are in North Carolina today promoting a new initiative help military families.
The first lady and Jill Biden are visiting Camp Lejeune to speak to 3,000 military personnel and family members and then to attend a baby shower for 40 pregnant women whose husbands are in the service.
They'll deliver gifts to the expectant moms and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart is going to teach scrapbooking.
The event comes a day after Obama and Biden announced the Joining Forces initiative to support military families, who often are challenged by absent spouses and frequent movement.
Obama and Biden will continue their tour with stops Wednesday and Thursday in Texas, Colorado and Ohio.
